A WEEK OF CHAOS, COMMUNITY AND CONNECTION

A WEEK OF COMMUNITY, CHAOS & CONNECTION

Some weeks feel like they stretch you, shape you and remind you exactly who you are AND this one was a full sensory experience.

The kind of week where your nervous system is buzzing, your heart is full and your brain is trying to file memories faster than it can process them.

You’re experiencing the executive‑function gap that every ADHD entrepreneur knows too well. And this is exactly where body doubling and co‑working become powerful, practical tools.

Monday - Digital Community & Deep Conversations

Monday was one of those days where online connection felt just as nourishing as in‑person.

The Small Steps Circle coworking space grounded me in the best way a gentle nudge back into structure. Then a coffee with the wonderful @isa_the_doodle_fairy, which was basically creative serotonin in human form.

I ended up speaking with an ADHD expert in Sweden who’s gathering a group of ADHD voices, and I’m delighted to be one of them, watch this space for more information.

And because my brain loves a theme, I finished the day talking to Remote Rebels about systems, routines and habits. The stuff that keeps us afloat when life gets loud.

Tuesday - DIY SOS IRELAND and The Power of the People

DIY SOS IRELAND LOGO

Volunteering with DIY SOS Ireland has been… honestly, life‑altering.

Between 150 and 200 people on site every day, neighbours, old school friends, strangers who instantly felt familiar. All showing up to transform the life of a local family.

It’s community at its rawest and most beautiful.

It’s also overstimulation at its finest.

But the good kind, the kind that reminds you you’re part of something bigger than your own head.

By Day 6, I was physically wrecked, emotionally wrung out and still somehow energised by the sheer humanity of it all. 3 more days and then the big reveal.

Thursday - Baby Comedy and Creative Chaos

Thursday brought another Baby Comedy night. A room full of women and non‑binary comics who make creativity feel safe, silly and superb.

I’ve been on stage five times now.

There’s no fear.

I laugh at my own jokes, so statistically someone else must too.

It’s chaotic, joyful and exactly the kind of outlet ADHD brains thrive on.

Friday - Comedy From the Audience

Friday was comedy from the comfort of a seat instead of a stage. Emma Doran tested her Edinburgh set in The Purty Kitchen, and I got to catch up with my Ma Head’s, Mairead and Carol.

We pretended it was one of our birthdays, because why not?

Some jokes hit so close to home it felt like she’d been reading our group chat.

Holyhead trips, motherhood and the existential crisis of realising nobody wants ye.

Saturday - A 10th Birthday & A Wild Adventure

My youngest turned 10, which feels impossible.

He was up at 5.30am, vibrating with excitement.

At 7, he joined me behind the scenes at DIY SOS helping set up breakfast (fair play to The Martello Bray for feeding the entire volunteers and crew every morning).

Then it was off to Kilruddery for a Squirrel Scramble 10th birthday party. Absolute chaos, absolute joy, absolute ADHD‑friendly mayhem. His friends encouraged each other the whole way around, which melted me completely.

The Reflection - What This Week Really Meant

I’ve slept like a baby every night, not because I’m relaxed, but because I’m done.

Physically tired.

Emotionally stretched.

Socially overloaded in a way I haven’t been since leaving corporate 10 years ago.

But underneath all of that?

A deep reminder of what matters

  • Family.

  • Friends.

  • New faces.

  • Creative spaces.

  • Community that shows up.

  • People who make you laugh, think, and feel seen.

And of course, the universal truth

No matter where you go, or who you meet, there’ll always be C@nts 🤣🤣🤣

But thankfully, the good always outnumber....
