Boost Morning Motivation - The Power of Tracking Your Menstrual Cycle
Mornings are the foundation of your day, but let’s be honest - they’re not always easy. How many of us hit snooze, telling ourselves we’ll just “get up in five minutes”?
Spoiler - those five minutes rarely make a difference.
This morning, I faced the same battle. My alarm was set for 5:45 AM, but I woke up earlier. The temptation to stay in bed was strong. What got me up? A few strategies I’ve honed over time in order to maximise your energy for a productive morning that works for you
1. Keep the Conversation Short
The longer you debate getting up, the harder it gets. I simply told myself, “I can do this,” and swung my legs out of bed before I could argue myself back under the covers.
2. Tune into Your Energy Levels
Understanding your menstrual cycle can be a game-changer. For me, the end of my follicular phase is when I feel most energised, so I take advantage of that. On the flip side, I know to ease up during my luteal phase and conserve energy.
3. Plan Your Week Intentionally
Mondays are for setup - not for stress. I avoid scheduling client calls and focus on preparing for the week ahead. By structuring my week around my energy, I stay productive without burning out.
4. Celebrate Small Wins
By 8 AM, I had already worked out, prepped breakfast, got the kids to school, and sorted laundry. These small accomplishments really set a positive tone for my day.
5. Give Yourself Grace
Not every morning will look like this, and that’s okay. The key is to recognise your natural rhythms and honour them. Some days are for pushing yourself; others are for rest - and both are essential. This has been a game changer for me, releasing shame & guilt of what you should be doing is empowering.
Your mornings don’t have to be a battle. By aligning your habits with your body’s natural rhythms and committing to small, actionable steps, you can set yourself up for success every day.
